THADDEUS STEVENS COLLEGE TO SEND THREE WRESTLERS TO NATIONALS

LANCASTER, PA – Three Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology wrestlers qualified Saturday for the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Men’s Wrestling Championship to be held in Spokane, WA on February 26, 2011.

Matt Rust (Quakertown, PA) finished second in the 141 lbs weight class after being defeated in the Championship match by Kodie Silvestri from Nassau Community College by a score of 19-3.

Adam Will (McClure, PA) finished third in the 149 lbs weight class after defeating Ray Martinez from Gloucester Community College with a fall at 4:56 in the consolation match.

Sterling Goshea (Marietta, PA) finished third in the 197 lbs weight class after defeating Tracy Jewett of Darlton College with 4-2 overtime win in the consolation match.

The results for the other Thaddeus Stevens wrestlers were:

Stevens Wrestlers Lose Two to York; Shippensburg

York, PA - The Thaddeus Stevens College Wrestling team fell hard on Saturday against York College and Shippensburg University at the York College Tri-Meet.  The team lost to York College by a score of 6-51 and to Shippensburg by a score of 6-46.

Stevens Wrestlers Lose First Match of 2011

Paramus, NJ - The Thaddeus Stevens College Wrestling team fell for the first time in 2011 against Bergen County Community College.  The team lost by a combined total of 16-28.

Stevens Wrestlers Lose Close One At Home

Lancaster, PA – The Thaddeus Stevens College Wrestling team fell to Gloucester County College on Wednesday evening by a combined total of 21-19 at home.  One highlight for the evening, however, is that Matt Rust and Sterling Goshea remain undefeated at 6-0 for this season.

The team closes out the first half of the season with a combined team record of 3-3.  The grapplers return to the mat for an away meet at Millersville University for the Millersville Open on Sunday, January 16. The team will not have another home meet until February 12 when Thaddeus Stevens College will host the NCJAA District Championships.


Stevens Wrestlers Have Successful Weekend

ALFRED, NY – The Thaddeus Stevens College wrestling team went 1-2 at the Alfred State College Duals on Saturday getting the Bulldogs to a 3-2 record in matches on the year.

The Bulldogs’ first match up on Saturday was against Hudson Valley College.  Stevens beat Hudson Valley by a total score of 23-22.  This was due in large part to Sterling Goshea (Marietta, PA) stepping into the Heavyweight matchup and winning. Individual results included:

133 class - Jason Combs (Columbia, PA) - Lost by technical fall

141 class - Matt Rust (Quakertown, PA) - Won - 10-6

149 class -  Adam Will (McClure, PA) - Won by major decision - 16-5

157 class - David Harnly (Columbia, PA) - Lost- 2-0

165 class - Emmanuel Encarnacion (Reading, PA) - Won by fall in 4:27

174 class - Jihad Johnson (Pottstown, PA) Won - 7-4

The Bulldogs’ second match was against Alfred State and the team lost 17-21. Because the team matchups were different for this match and no heavyweight was available, the team fell short.  If the team would have had a Heavyweight, they would have won the match as Alfred would have had to forfeit the match. The last match of the day was against Niagara College, the #16 team in the country. Stevens lost this match by a total score of 35-10. Both Encarnacion and Johnson lost to top 10 nationally ranked wrestlers. Individual results included:

Lancaster, PA – The Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology Wrestling team rolled over Valley Forge Military Academy Wednesday evening, defeating them by an overall score of 38-9. The wresting team is now 2-0 on the season.

Thaddeus Stevens Wins First Wrestling Meet of the Year

LANCASTER. PA – Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology started the 2010-11 Wrestling season on the right track with a 27-15 overall win over Williamson Trade School.

Individual highlights from the match include:

  • David Schoenly (Columbia, PA) – 133 weight class lost his match 4-3.
  • Matthew Rust (Quakertown, PA) - 141 weight class won his match 8-4.
  • Adam Will (McClure, PA) – 149 weight class won his match by pin at 4:48
  • Emmanuel Encarnacion (Reading, PA) – 157 weight class won his match via forfeit.
  • David Harnley (Columbia, PA) – 165 weight class lost his match 9-4
  • Jihad Johnson (Pottstown, PA) – 174 weight class won his match via forfeit
  • Jacob Mont (Pottsville, PA) – 184 weight class lost his match 3-1
