WELCOME TO GENERAL CONSTRUCTION LABORER

The General Construction Laborer program is a 9-month certificate program that focuses on:

Safety

In this portion of training the student will learn common safety equipment and procedures when handling construction equipment and materials. The student will be instructed in personal safety as well as job-site safety.

 

General Shop

This portion of instruction includes both Theory and Practical Application. It will provide the proper names and procedures for the common hand tools, power tools and hardware used by craftsmen in the fields of Carpentry, Masonry and Concrete. It will also provide instruction on the proper names and procedures on various specialized tools and equipment in the field of Carpentry Masonry and Concrete.

 

Certifications

This portion of instruction will provide each student with a 30 Hr. OSHA Certification Card, Hydro-Mobile Certification along with Pettibone, Skid Loader and Scissors Lift Certifications.

 

Drafting and Blueprint Reading

This portion of specialized training will provide the necessary skills for reading and navigating through blueprints (structural/mechanical). It will also provide opportunities for the students to demonstrate skills in drafting. Each student will design and construct a final project.
