TSCT TO HOST SOCIETY OF AMERICAN PERIOD FURNITURE MAKERS MID-YEAR CONFERENCE
Many of the finest traditional furniture makers will be in attendance
The 2009 Mid-Year Conference for the Society of American Period Furniture Makers (SAPFM) will be held on the campus of Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology on Friday, June 26 to Sunday, June 28. Many of the country’s finest traditional furniture makers will be in attendance at the conference. This is the fifth time the college has hosted this event and approximately 125 total individuals are expected to attend.
The three day conference will feature presentations by some of the finest craftsman in the trade. Presenters include Steve Latta, Mary May, Will Neptune, Mickey Callhan and Alexandra Alevizatos Kirtley. In addition to the presentations, conference attendees will have the opportunity visit the Baltimore Museum of Art and the Maryland Historical Society.
The mission of SAPFM is to create a forum for the understanding, education, and appreciation of American period furniture; develop and encourage the use of standards and ethical practices in the reproduction and conservation of period furniture; membership to all with an interest in period furniture; assist members with the identification and location of resources including people or organizations having specialized expertise; and conduct public exhibitions for the recognition of members’ work.
