The Respiratory Care program is designed to prepare students as respiratory therapists in the rapidly expanding field of respiratory care. Graduates will be prepared to participate in the diagnosis and management of a diverse patient population who suffer from cardiopulmonary disorders. Students will master life support equipment and work in a range of clinical settings such as Emergency Rooms, Trauma Centers, Intensive Care Units and even Home Care Settings to name a few. Students will practice their skills on a diverse patient population which will include a wide range of age groups; from prematurebabies through the elderly.
The program is designed to integrate clinical experiences at area health care facilities with the course and laboratory activities. The program is accreditated by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) via the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). Graduates of this program will earn an associate of science degree and be eligible to sit for all credentialing examinations (CRT, RRT) administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
