Q. What is the Office of Multicultural Affairs?
A. The primary objective of the Office of Multicultural Affairs is to enhance the educational experience and opportunities of all students. Special emphasis is placed on promoting student retention by sponsoring programs that address the needs of students on a personal, academic, social, and cultural level. Our role is equally critical in promoting an environment conducive to academic success where appreciation, respect, and understanding of cultural diversity are encouraged.
Q. What new and continued programs will the Office of Multicultural Affairs and Mentoring provide?
A. Some of the programs include
Multicultural Ambassadors (New)
Multicultural Ambassadors are a group of students, from various cultural backgrounds, who assist at the Multicultural Affairs Center. Being a Multicultural Ambassador is an excellent opportunity to improve your leadership skills, help plan and set up multicultural programs and activities, participate in recruitment activities, and become better connected with the college community.
Partners for Student Success Mentoring Program (New)
The Purpose of the Partners for Student Success Mentoring Program is to facilitate the personal and professional development of students at Thaddeus Stevens College. Students who are interested in developing mentor relationships are paired with selected faculty, staff, senior students, alumni, and/or community members who are committed to providing support in the professional development and growth of our students.
Latino Scholars
Latino Scholars is a representative body of students with a common interest in Hispanic culture that provides a supportive social and academic network of peers as well as to celebrate their heritage and customs throughout the campus community. Membership in the Latino Scholars Alliance is open to the entire Thaddeus Stevens community. We welcome students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds to join.

· Cultural Awareness Speakers/Writing and Poetry Contest

· Diversity Workshops

A. Other activities will include
· Community Service Efforts
· Cultural Weekend trips
· Speaker Forums
· Film Series
· Cup of Tea/Coffee Dialogues (discussion concerning issues of multiculturalism)
· Open Mike Nights, and Much More
Q. Who can become a part of the Multicultural Affairs Program?
A. We strive to help foster positive relations and cultural enrichment among all students. Therefore, we welcome participation in, as well as comments on, our programs, events, and activities from the entire campus community. We also welcome suggestions for new programs.
